The Pittsburgh Panthers and the Colorado Buffaloes play in the second round of the NCAA tournament on Thursday.
The Pittsburgh Panthers dropped to 25-9, 11-7 ACC after losing to Virginia is the semifinals of the ACC tournament on Saturday. On the season, Lamar Patterson, who in my opinion is one of the best players in the ACC, if not the country this season, leads the Panthers. Patterson averages a team-high 17.6 points and 4.3 assists per game this season. Talib Zanna is averaging a second-best 12.9 points per game while averaging a team-high 8.8 rebounds per game. The Panthers average a solid 72.5 points per game while shooting 46.1% from the field as a team this season. Pittsburgh is one of the better rebounding teams in the ACC, averaging 36.1 boards per game. Pittsburgh has won four of their last six games after losing three straight games in February. The Panthers finished an impressive 7-2 on the road in conference play and now 5-2 on neutral courts this season.

The Colorado Buffaloes dropped to 23-11, 10-8 Pac-12 after losing to Arizona 63-43 in the Pac-12 tournament last weekend. Colorado lost one, if not their best player, Spencer Dinwiddie, back in January and has been inconsistent ever since. Dinwiddie was leading the team in points per game and assists per contest before getting injured. On the season without Dinwiddie, Josh Scott is averaging a team-high 14.1 points and 8.5 rebounds a game. Askia Booker is averaging 14 points and a team-high 3.4 assists per game. Wesley Gordon is averaging 5.9 points and 6.1 rebounds per game for the Buffaloes. Colorado is averaging 70.9 points per game while shooting 43.7% from the field this season as a team. The Buffaloes are a great rebounding team, averaging 37.5 boards per game. Colorado is 2-3 on neutral courts this season.
I think this will be a good matchup as both teams have the ability to rebound the ball and play solid defense. I think Pittsburgh, with Patterson and Zanna, will come away with the win but Colorado will keep it close. I’ll take the points with the Buffaloes.
