The Oklahoma State Cowboys and Gonzaga Bulldogs will face each other in the second round on the NCAA tournament on Friday. The Cowboys earned an at-large bid, while the Bulldogs won the West Coast Conference tournament.
Oklahoma State has been a different team since Marcus Smart returned from suspension, winning five of its last seven games. On the season, the Cowboys average 80.3 points on 46.5 percent shooting and allow 69.1 points on 40.7 percent shooting. Smart leads OK State with 17.8 points and 4.7 assists per game. The Cowboys shoot 72.4 percent from the free throw line and 36.8 percent from beyond the arc. The Oklahoma State Cowboys are 13-15-1 ATS overall this season.

Gonzaga is one of the more balanced teams in the NCAA tournament, averaging 75.8 points on 49 percent shooting and allowing 64.5 points on 39.3 percent shooting. The Bulldogs have held 13 of their last 15 opponents under 70 points. Offensively, Gonzaga has four players averaging in the double figures and is led by senior forward Sam Dower, who leads the team with 15 points and 7.1 rebounds. Gonzaga also shoots 71 percent from the free throw line and 39.4 percent from downtown. The Gonzaga Bulldogs are 16-14-1 ATS overall.
The Cowboys are 5-2-1 ATS in their last 8 games overall and 2-8 ATS in their last 10 neutral site games. The Bulldogs are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall and 9-2 ATS in their last 11 games vs. a team with a winning % above 60 percent.
Oklahoma State has become the trendy pick to make a deep tournament run, but this is simply a bad matchup. The one downfall for the Cowboys is their lack of size. Unfortunately for them, Gonzaga has big bodies in the paint, including Przemek Karnowski, who 7’1” and nearly 300 pounds.
Gonzaga plays lockdown defense and will control the glass in this game.
I like the Bulldogs to win SU, but I’ll take the point and a half just to be safe.
