Defensively, Eastern Kentucky allows 70.6 points on 48.2 percent shooting. Eastern Kentucky’s downfall is its rebounding with an average of just 26.2 boards per game. The Jayhawks are a national championship contender that doesn’t have many weaknesses. Kansas averages 79.6 points on 49.5 percent shooting and is led by freshman Andrew Wiggins, who averages 17.4 points and 6 rebounds. Defensively, Kansas allows 70.5 points on 41.6 percent shooting, but those numbers have suffered since the injury to Joel Embiid. The Jayhawks have allowed 90-plus points without their star big man. Still, Kansas is a dangerous team that shoots 71.1 percent from the free throw line and dominates the glass with an average of 38.1 rebounds. Kansas is 16-16-1 ATS overall this season.
Eastern Kentucky is no slouch and could make things interesting the shots all falling. The Colonels move extremely well without the ball and can score from just about anywhere. The problem is Eastern Kentucky is a small team that doesn’t rebound, which happens to be one of Kansas’ biggest strengths. The Jayhawks are a physical team in the paint and will likely just ware down Eastern Kentucky in the second half.
This is just an overall bad matchup for Eastern Kentucky, and it will probably result in your classic NCAA tournament blowout.
Take the Jayhawks and the chalk.
