Virginia Military won its first tournament game with a 111-100 victory over the Canisius Golden Griffins. Center D.J. Covington led the way for VMI with 37 points and five blocks. On the season, Virginia Military averages 84.2 points on 43.2 percent shooting and allows 83.3 points on 44.5 percent shooting. The Keydets are the highest scoring team in the country and average 42.2 rebounds per game, but their lack of defense does get them in trouble at times. VMI shoots 71.2 percent from the free throw line and 32.1 percent from downtown. The Virginia Military Keydets are 3-1 ATS overall.
The Mastodons are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games vs. a team with a winning % above 60 percent and 15-5-1 ATS in their last 21 road games. The Keydets are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall and 3-8-1 ATS in their last 12 non-conference games.
Go ahead and take the IPFW Mastodons and the small chalk. They are the more complete team and have been absolute money ATS all season. Virginia Military plays no defense whatsoever, and it's likely going to cost them in this matchup.
