The Siena Saints and the Illinois State Redbirds slug it out in a CBI semifinal tilt at the Times Union Center.
Illinois State has looked good in their two CBI wins as they overcame Morehead State and their potent offense in the opener and stiffled Texas A&M with defense in a 62-55 quarterfinal victory. The game was tied at the half but the Redbirds halfcourt attack was superior over the final 20 minutes with 43.6% shooting winning out over the Aggies 34% which added up to a hefty six additional field goals. Daishon Knight tossed in a game high 17 points and snagged nine rebounds with John Jones adding 12 while the duo of Reggie Lynch and Nick Zeisloft combined for 17 points and 13 pulls.

There is something to be said for teams that are playing their best basketball at this time of the year and Siena fits that description. The Saints went 4-1 to end the regular season and carried that momentum in to the CBI where they knocked off Stony Brook by eleven before edging Penn State 54-52 as a five point dog in their own backyard. Even though the Nittany Lions were held to 30% marksmanship good fortune was on the side of the Saints with the visitors going 12-22 at the line in a two point game. That made a winner of Siena's 40% accuracy and negated their own 7-13 from the stripe. The Saints received 17 points and six yanks from Lavon Long with Brett Bisping and Rob Poole adding 12 and 11 points while combining for 20 rebounds.
No line out but I don't expect a lot of chalk but without knowing the number I am leaning to Siena who is 12-3 at home and is playing well but I have to see the number...
