The 2 seed Wisconsin Badgers square off against top seeded Arizona for a trip to the Final 4 Saturday evening at 8:49PM on TBS.
Wisconsin coasted into the elite 8 with an extremely impressive showing against a red hot Baylor team that had been mowing down opponents heading into elite 8 play. The Badgers raced out to an early double digit lead and never relented. Wisconsin’s efficient offensive showing ran through big man Frank Kaminsky who finished with 19 points, 4 rebounds and 6 blocks down low. The Badgers shot it 52% from the floor and Ben Brust added 14 and 6. On defense, the Badgers smothered Baylor all game long, holding them to 31.6% shooting, 13% from deep and winning the battle on the boards 39-33. If Wiscy is able to replicate their performance against Zona, they will have a good shot at pulling the upset.

Arizona squeaked into elite 8 play with a late push to get past San Diego State 70-64. The Wildcats trailed throughout the contest but closed the gap in the second half and were sparked by the play of Pac-12 player of the year Nick Johnson. After struggling all game long, Johnson scored a crucial 13 straight points late in the game to seal the win. Johnson finished with 15 points, 8 boards and 3 assists. Arizona also got a combined 30 points and 12 boards from freshman Aaron Gordon and Rondae Hollis-Jefferson. The Wildcats finished with 14 team assists and just 7 turnovers and they held the Aztecs to just 4 total team assists in the contest.
Wisconsin played their best game in months last night and if they can carry that momentum to Saturday, the Wildcats will have their hands full. I think this game should be very close and I expect the big men of Arizona to be able to neutralize Kaminsky. If they can do that and employ the strong perimeter D they are known for, they should get the win. Look for another big game from Nick Johnson as well as the Wildcats move on to the final 4 with the narrow cover.
