The Siena Saints make a cross country trek to the Save Mart Center to face the Fresno State Bulldogs in the CBI championship opener.
Siena made it to the CBI title game by knocking off Stony Brook, Penn State and Illinois State Wednesday by a 61-49 count. It has been an impressive run for a team that finished fifth in the MAAC and is the last conference team standing. The Saints have really turned it on defensively in the CBI with their best effort coming against the Redbirds who were held to 30% from the field including a 2-21 effort on threes. Siena didn't light up the scoreboard on 40.8% accuracy but held advantages throughout the boxscore. Brett Bisping led the scoring with 20 points and 13 rebounds with Rob Poole tossing in 14 followed by Evan Hymes and Ryan Oliver with 21 points.

Fresno State has also been turning things up defensively with their path to the CBI championship has led them over UTEP, Princeton and Old Dominion. A 71-64 decision over the Monarchs on Wednesday capped their tourney run behind a complete performance at both ends of the floor. The Bulldogs won the shooting battle 52.6%-38.5% and survived a whopping 27 more ODU looks as they turned 27 Monarchs personals in to a 27-8 edge at the charity stripe. Marvelle Harris pumped in a game high 20 points on 7-9 shooting with Paul Watson adding 15 points and five yanks while Cezar Guerrero and Tyler Johnson tossed in 14 and 13 points with the latter snaring seven boards.
I think the home court will be crucial in this series and that means winning the opener is probably a must for Fresno State. I think they get the win but I'll take the points...
