The Murray State Racers welcome the Pacific Tigers to the CFSB Center in a CIT semifinal bout.
There are surprise teams in every postseason tournament and in the CIT I believe Pacific is an unexpected semifinalist. The Tigers are known for their scoring and that hasn't been an issue but their beleaguered defense has really stepped it up in three tournament by allowing a little more then 62 points in three wins. The Tigers put everything together in a 75-60 decision over visiting San Diego Wednesday. Pacific connected at 48% in contrast to the Toreros 37% which included a 2-20 effort from distance. Andrew Bock scored a game high 23 points and snared six pulls withTony Gill adding 18 points and 11 rebounds followed by a ten point, five yank effort from Sama Taku.

The offensively oriented Racers have scored almost without effort at times but have had some issues at the defensive end for most of the regular season. Fortunately Murray State has continued to score in the CIT but have been able to step it up defensively and the result is a spot in the semifinals. MSU knocked off visiting Towson 85-73 behind a 49 point second half that erased a three point deficit. Both teams hit at a 49% pace but the Racers 10-23 performance from beyond the arc being the deciding factor. Cameron Payne led all scorers with 24 points and seven assists with Jarvis Williams adding 18 points and nine pulls followed by Dexter Fields with 15 and Jonathan Fairell with 13 points and ten rebounds.
I find it tough to lay points the way Pacific is playing but on the flip side it isn't easy going against Murray State who is playing very well. If both teams play their best I believe the Racers at home is the right side...
