The Yale Bulldogs go on the road to face the VMI Keydets at Cameron Hall in a CIT semfinal Tuesday.
Yale has reached the CIT semifinals because they scored when needed and gotten stops at the defensive end to keep the scoreboard from getting out of hand. The Bulldogs did neither of these things in the first half of their 72-69 victory at Columbia in the first half where they trailed 34-25 but a 47 point second half took care of business. The Bulldogs fired away at 53% with the Lions responding at 45% and staying close on a 15-28 effort from beyond the arc. However, Yale had Javier Duren on their side and he pumped in a game high 33 points and posted ten boards while Justin Sears tossed in 17.

If there is one team that has not changed their approach in any tournament it is VMI. If you follow this team then you know it means score a ton of points and hope it's more then their opponent. So far, so good as they edged Ohio on the road 92-90 in the lowest scoring of their three CIT contests. A seven point deficit at the break was erased with a 53 point second half explosion behind 47.7% marksmanship and 21-11 advantage at the charity stripe that offset the Bobcats 55.6% shooting. The one, two punch of Rodney Glasgow and DJ Covington combined for 59 points with the latter grabbing eleven rebounds followed by a ten point effort from Brian Brown.
If Yale can control the pace and make shots they will be in this game because everybody scores on VMI. The trick is scoring enough...
