The Quinnipiac Bobcats and the La Salle Explorers face off on Tuesday in college basketball action.
The Quinnipiac Bobcats got their season started the right way getting a win against Yale. While it took OT for Quinnipiac to get the win they erased the halftime deficit and won the game that was tight all the way. Zaid Hearst led the way for the Bobcats with 35 points, 11 rebounds, and five assists against Yale. Ousamane Drame had 13 points and 15 rebounds, Evan Conti has 13 points, six rebounds, and six assists, Kasim Chandler had 12 points and eight rebounds, and Justin Harris had 12 points. Quinnipiac shot 46.6 percent from the floor and 26.3 percent from beyond the three-point arc. Quinnipiac dominated the boards winning the rebound battle 49-35 and they shot 66.7 percent from the free throw line. Quinnipiac’s ability to hit the boards should keep them in a lot of games.
USA TODAY Sports
The La Salle Explorers opened their season wit a win over Colgate in a defensive low scoring game. La Salle led by just a point at the half and managed to win by five in he end in what was a tight game. Jerrell Wright led the way for La Salle with 10points and 13 rebounds. Amar Stukes had 10 points, Khalid Lewis had nine points, Steve Zack had eight points and six rebounds, and Jordan Price had eight points. La Salle shot a miserable 35.8 percent from the floor and 23.1 percent from beyond the three point arc while shooting 84.1 percent from the free throw line. La Salle will need to shoot better as the competition gets tougher.
Quinnipiac is 4-0 against the spread in their last four non-conference games and 6-2 against the spread against a team with a winning record. La Salle is 7-21-1 against the spread in their last 29 games, 2-9-1 against the spread in their last 12 non-conference games, and 1-6 against the spread in their last seven road games.
Quinnipiac is just a mild favorite here but with their ability to pound he boards and La Salle’s low shooting percentage I don’t see a lot of second chance points for the Explorers and plenty for the Bobcats.
