The Appalachian State Mountaineers square off with the Furman Paladins in Wednesday action.
The Appalachian State Mountaineers are looking to get in the win column after absorbing a 73-47 loss to Ohio which is one of the top squads in the MAC. This was just an eight point game at the half before the Bobcats dominated the final 20 minutes with better performances at both ends of the floor. The Bobcats hit shots at 47% while the Mountaineers hit at under 33% which was game over. Tommy Spagnolo and Chris Burgess led the offense with eleven points apiece with Spagnolo ripping down nine rebounds. Mike Kobani added seven points but Appalachian State struggled to find production and needed it against explosive Ohio.
USA TODAY Sports
The Furman Paladins are looking to bounce back from a disappointing performance in their opener where they were overmatched at both ends of the floor by Charleston. The Cougars picked up a 75-40 victory over a Paladins squad that wasn't big enough and was a step or two slow overall. Furman hung tough on the backboards but couldn't defend with Charleston nailing shots at over 52% from the field. To further complicate their issues the Paladins shot 24%. Furman did not have a go to scorer with no player breaking double figures in the scoring column. Kendrec Ferrara and Daniel Fowler were the top scorers with eight points apiece but this team needs to improve their shooting and make their free throws.
The under is 20-6 in APP last 26 road games and is 27-9 in APP last 36 overall while the under is 27-9 in APP last 36 non-conference games. For Furman the Paladins are 3-14 ATS in their last 17 Wed. games and are 2-9 ATS in their last 11 home games while FUR are 9-23 ATS in their last 32 games overall. Head to head the Mountaineers are 2-6 ATS in the last 8 meetings in Furman. Both teams have missing players so I'm not sure if what we saw each team at their best. That's the reason there is no spread so please check back...
