The Seton Hall Pirates and Nevada Wolfpack play Friday afternoon at the Sports and Fitness Center.
The Seton Hall Pirates got off to a fast start with an impressive win Sunday over the Mercer Bears. In the win, Seton Hall shot 39.7 percent from the field and grabbed 35 rebounds, while the defense held the Bears to 37 percent shooting and forced 18 turnovers. Brandon Mobley led the Pirates with 19 points on 7-9 shooting and Sterling Gibbs scored 17 points and had five assists. Angel Delgado grabbed 12 rebounds and freshman Isaiah Whitehead was 1-10 from the field. The Seton Hall Pirates really had one of the more impressive victories during opening week but the lack of scoring depth will be a concern moving forward. Seton Hall had just eight points and seven fouls from its bench during the victory, numbers that will have to change if its going to compete in the Big East.

The Nevada Wolfpack got off to a quick 2-0 start with a win over Cal Poly and Adams State. On the season, Nevada is averaging 67 points on 40.6 percent shooting and is allowing 56.5 points on 32.5 percent shooting. D.J. Fenner leads the Wolfpack with 15 points on 41.7 percent shooting and AJ West is averaging 11.5 points and 13 rebounds. Michael Perez is shooting 44.4 percent from deep and Marqueze Coleman has scored 11 points in each of the first two games. The Nevada Wolfpack weren’t expected to do much this season in the MWC due to losses during the offseason, but if they can continue to get production around West, they have a shot to be a surprise team. Nevada’s defense will lead the way until higher percentage shots come along.
The Pirates are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 non-conference games and 16-33 ATS in their last 49 neutral site games. The Wolf Pack are 5-17 ATS in their last 22 neutral site games and 1-7 ATS in their last 8 Friday games.
We still don't know exactly who Nevada is after beating up on two cupcakes. Meanwhile, the Seton Hall Pirates have a very talented team and is coming off a big and impressive win over Mercer. Look for that to continue, as the Pirates beat the Wolfpack and cover the number.
