The Toledo Rockets butt heads with the Oregon Ducks in the Progressive Legends Classic on Friday.
The Toledo Rockets dominated an outmanned Northern Arizona squad in their opener but the going was a bit tougher in VCU where the Rams picked up an 87-78 decision as an eleven point favorite. The Rockets led by three at the break before the Rams went on a 45-33 second half run. Toledo sank half their shots to outshoot VCU who connected at 45.8% but the Rockets gave the ball away 21 times which gave the Rams eleven more looks at the basket which they took advantage of. Nathan Boothe was high scorer for Toledo with 18 points and eight yanks with Julius Brown right on his heels with 17 points and six turnovers. Justin Drummond tossed in another 12 points while JD Weatherspoon adding eleven points and ten rebounds.

Although the Oregon Ducks first two opponents haven't been fearsome the Ducks have done what they should have and that's win easily by double figures. The Ducks broke a half time tie with Detroit to win 83-66 behind a suffocating defensive performance. The Titans were never able to solve the Ducks defense with only 35.8% shooting while Oregon hit at 44.8% from the floor which equated to six more field goals and the victory. Joseph Young ws the offensive star with a game high 22 points with five yanks and five turnovers with Jalil Abdul-Bassit sinking 6-8 for 17 points and six boards while Dillon Brooks and Elgin Cook adding 14 and ten points. The Ducks shot selection was not very good as they connected on just 9-33 from long range.
Toledo is picked by many to win the MAC and perhaps represent the conference in the Big Dance and if that happens it will be because they have been able to score their way past teams because defense is not their forte. I know the PAC 12 is better then the MAC and will have more then one invitation to the NCAA's but in this match up with Oregon I believe the Rockets can compete and at least get the cover...
