The College of Charleston Cougars and the Texas A&M Aggies face off on Friday in the losers bracket in the Puerto Rico Invitational Tournament.
The College of Charleston Cougars played hard all game on Thursday and never gave in but it wasn’t enough as they lost to UConn. The loss knocked CofC to 1-2 for the season where they are averaging 66.3 points per game shooting 45.4 percent from the floor including 43.1 percent from beyond the three-point arc while defensively they are allowing 61.7 points and their opponents are shooting 38.4 percent. Anthony Stitt had a big game against UConn scoring 17 points while Adjehi Baru had 12 points and 10 rebounds, Joe Chealey had 12points, and Canyon Barry had 12 points. College of Charleston trailed big at time but refused to let the more talented Huskies pull away.

The Texas A&M Aggies also fell in their first round game on Thursday losing to Dayton and falling to 1-1 for the season. Texas A&M shot just 34.6 percent from the floor and 30 percent from beyond the three-point arc while defensively they allowed Dayton to shoot 35.8 percent while crushing the Flyers on the boards outrebounding them 41-23. Alex Caruso had 17 points and five assists, Kourtney Roberson ihad 12 points and 15 rebounds, Jalen Jones had eight points and 7.0 rebounds, and Antwan Space had nine rebounds. The Aggies went 14 of 23 at the free throw line and that was the difference in the game.
College of Charleston is 4-0 against the spread in their last four non-conference games, 3-7 against the spread in their last 10 games, and 5-1 against the spread against the SEC. Texas A&M is 4-1 against the spread following a game that they didn’t cover the spread, 5-2 against the spread following a loss, and 3-14 against the spread in their last 17 neutral site games.
