The Brown Bears go on the road looking for the upset of the Indiana State Sycamores Saturday.
The Brown Bears have struggled to score in their first two games of the season so when the defense also struggled in an 80-65 loss to Holy Cross the Bears were staring at an 0-2 start. The Bears had high hopes against the Crusaders after dropping their opener by 'just' ten to Northwestern but instead fell behind by 15 after 20 minutes and never recovered. Brown shot the ball well enough at 45% but were done in by a 4-17 effort on threes and 23 turnovers. Holy Cross took full advantage on 50% from the floor. The Bears were a two man show with Cedric Kuakumensah and Leland King combining for 45 points and 16 rebounds and ten turnovers.

The Indiana State Sycamores might be 1-1 but I wasn't thrilled with either performance although to be fair this team lost some valuable from the past few seasons. A 69-56 defeat at the hands of Saint Louis was the result of poor offense throughout and a defensive meltdown over the final 20 minutes where the Billikens went on a 41-29 run. This was a case of a solid defensive effort that was backed by an awful offensive performance. SLU was held to 36% from the floor but the Sycamores connected at less then 33% with the Billikens owning a +13 at the foul line. Devonte Brown was the Sycamores best player with 16 points and five pulls on 6-10 from the floor with Justin Grant tossing in 12 points and six boards but nobody approached 50% shooting except for Brown.
Indiana State are 2-9 ATS in their last 11 games overall and are 5-16 ATS in their last 21 home games while the under is 20-8 in INST last 28 home games. I think the key here for Indiana State is at least cotrolling Kuakumensah and King because those two can carry Brown against a team that doesn't have a lot of dependable scoring in my view. I am taking the Sycamores and I think a poor effort doesn't bode well for the remainder of the season...
