The Temple Owls and the UNLV Runnin’ Rebels face off on Saturday in Brooklyn in the Coaches vs. Cancer college basketball tournament.
The Temple Owls are 2-1 this season with their one loss coming on Friday as they were slaughtered by Duke in heir opening round game. Temple shot 37.3 percent from the floor and a dreadful 83 percent from beyond the three-point arc en route to losing by 20 points. Will Cummings had 18 points to lead the Owls, Josh Brown had 11 points, and Quenton DeCosey had 10 points. Temple was simply outclassed by Duke.

The UNLV Runnin’ Rebels had escaped with close wins in their first two games this season but on Friday they were simply no match for Stanford trailing big the whole way. UNLV shot 37.9 percent from the floor and 27.8 percent from beyond the three-point arc but they trailed by 23 at the half and lost by 29. Christian Wood led UNLV with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Patrick McCaw had 10 points, Jelan Kendrick had nine points, and Rashad Vaughn had seven points. UNLV was no match for Stanford on the boards losing the rebounding battle 24-42.
Temple is 4-1 against the spread following a loss, 9-1 against the spread following a double-digit home loss, and 1-4 against the spread in their last five neutral site games.
