The Kansas State Wildcats and the Purdue Boilermakers face off on Monday afternoon in the Maui Invitational college basketball tournament.

The Kansas State Wildcats are 2-1 this season but are coming off of an upset loss to Long Beach State. Kansas State projects to play the 82nd ranked schedule in the country and Bruce Weber’s team will need to improve by the time they get to their Big 12 schedule. Kansas Sate is averaging 80.3 points per game shooting 48.4 percent from the floor while allowing 70 points and their opponents shoot 43.9 percent. Thomas Gipson is averaging 17 points per game and 6.7 rebounds to lead the Wildcats. Nino Williams is averaging 12 points and 5.0 rebounds, Marcus Foster is averaging 11.3 points, and Nigel Johnson is averaging 10.7 points. Kansas State has a tough out of conference schedule ahead aside from whomever they meet in Maui.

Kansas State vs. Purdue - 11/24/14 College Basketball Pick, Odds, and Prediction

USA TODAY Sports

The Purdue Boilermakers are 3-0 so far this season but they are ready to take a step up in competition. Purdue has played the 230th ranked schedule thus far and it projects to be 79th before the season is over. Purdue is averaging 79.7 points per game shooting 51.3 percent from the floor while defensively they are allowing 42.3 points and their opponents shoot 29.4 percent. Vince Edwards is averaging 13.7 points and 7.3 rebounds, Kendall Stephens is averaging 13.3 points, and Isaac Haas is averaging 11.3 points and 5.0 rebounds. Purdue is coming off of a 52-point win over Grambling State that skews their numbers.

Kansas State is 5-2 against the spread in their last seven non-conference games, 1-5 against the spread in their last six games overall, and 0-5 against the Big Ten. Purdue is 5-0 against the spread against the Big 12, 5-2 against the spread in their last seven games, and 0-5 against the spread following a win.

Purdue hasn’t proved much and Kansas State has already taken a bad loss but I see them boucing back and getting the win here.
