The Oregon Ducks gave it a game effort on Monday against Michigan but they came up short and took their first loss of the season. Joseph Young had 20 points to lead the Ducks in scoring. Dillon Brooks had 14 points and seven rebounds, Elgin Cook had 13 points and six rebounds, and Dwayne Benjamin had 8 points and 11 rebounds. The VCU Rams were in a two-point game with Villanova at the half on Monday but it turned ugly in the second half as they lost by 24 points. VCU shot just 37.3 percent from the floor including a dreadful 2 of 17 from beyond the three-point arc and they took just 12 free throws. Briante Weber had 13 points, Melvin Johnson had 13 points, and Mo Alie-Cox had 10 points. VCU was also outrebounded 35-26 and were simply no match for Villanova, at least on Monday.
Oregon is 4-1 against the spread following a loss, 12-4-1 against the spread in their last 17 games, and 8-3-1 against the spread in their last 12 neutral site games. VCU is 4-1 against the spread following a game that they didn’t cover the point spread, 1-4 against the spread in their last five games, and 0-4 against the spread against a team with a winning record.
VCU had troube scoring and that is never a good thing against a team that can score and despite Oregon's not so stellar performance against less of a defense than they face here I like the Ducks to cover.
