The Call State Fullerton Titans and the Wright State Raiders will face off on Thanksgiving at the Spartanburg-Marriott Upstate Classic.
Cal State Fullerton will come into this match up 1-3 on the season coming off a 53-49 loss at USC this past Tuesday. The Titans have had trouble throughout the year on the offensive end, and their troubles continued against USC as they only were able to go 18-56 (32.1%) from field. Leading the way for Cal State Fullerton was Lanerryl Johnson who ended up with 21 points while going 5-7 from long range. On the season, along with Lanerryl Johnson (14.5 ppg), the Titans are led by DePaul transfer Moses Morgan (14.8 ppg, 3.8 rpg) and Alex Harris (11.8 ppg, 3.0 rpg, 2.8 apg). Head coach, Dedrique Taylor, lost one of his best players in the Big West in Michael Williams (17.4 ppg, 4.1 rpg). Coach Taylor brought in transfers Malcolm Henderson and Kennedy Esume to help add some size to the Titans front-court but so far into the young season, the Titans haven’t been able to get it down on the glass as they currently rank just 240th in the nation in total rebounds at 33.5 rpg.

Wright State comes into this match-up 3-1 coming off an 86-79 victory versus the Charleston Southern Buccaneers this past Saturday. Leading the way for the Raiders was JT Yoho who scored 25 points while grabbing 7 boards and Joe Thomasson who had 16 points, 9 rebounds, and 5 assists. Wright State’s calling card has always been on the defensive end, however, so far early in the season the defense has been struggling as they’ve been giving up an average of 70.8 ppg (ranked 259th) and averaging just 30.0 rpg (ranked 314th). Although Coach Billy Donlon can’t be pleased with what the Raiders are doing on the defensive end, he has to be thrilled with what they have been doing offensively as this is a team that has generally had issues scoring the basketball. Leading the way for the raiders has been JT Yoho (25.0 ppg, 7.0 rpg), Chrishawn Hopkins (18.3 ppg, 4.5 rpg, 3.3 apg), and Reggie Arceneaux (13.0 ppg, 2.3 apg). Currently the Raiders are averaging 72.5 ppg and shooting a decent 46.3% from the field.
The Titans are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 non-conference games while just 2-6 ATS in their last 8 neutral site games. The Raiders are 4-10 in their last 14 non-conference games, however, are 7-2 in their last 9 games overall.
Call State Fullerton has been having trouble on both sides of the ball all year and will have to start taking better shots if they want to be competitive this season. Although the Titans do have a couple of scorers, I feel that Coach Donlon will have his Raiders more prepared then they have been on the defensive end and will get enough offensive output to cover this spread. I’m rolling with the Raiders in this one.
