The Texas Southern Tigers and Baylor Bears play Monday night at the Ferrell Center.
The Texas Southern Tigers are coming off their first win and will play their sixth road game. On the season, Texas Southern is averaging 63.3 points on 41.5 percent shooting and is allowing 74.3 points on 49.1 percent shooting. Chris Thomas leads the Tigers with 16.5 points and 6.2 rebounds while Deverell Biggs is averaging 10.8 points on 40.3 percent shooting. Tonnie Collier is shooting 36.8 percent from deep and Malcolm Riley is grabbing 4.3 rebounds. The Texas Southern Tigers have been brutal offensively, shooting just 28.4 percent from beyond the arc and turning the ball over 15 times per game. Those numbers aren’t going to change with Jose Rodriguez and Madarious Gibbs out. It’s sure to be a long season for Texas Southern fans.

The Baylor Bears look to shake their loss to Illinois, as they’re 5-1 overall. On the season, Baylor is averaging 66.8 points on 44 percent shooting and is allowing 51.5 points on 33.6 percent shooting. Taurean Princeis averaging 13.2 points and five rebounds while Kenny Chery is shooting 36.1 percent from the field. However, Chery is questionable with a foot injury. Lester Medford leads the Bears with 3.7 assists and Royce O'Neale is the third player to average double-digit points. The Baylor Bears rely heavily on their pressure defense and the 43 rebounds they average per game. Baylor could use some more consistency on the offensive end but the Bears have won 13 of their last 15 games when holding a team under 70 points.
The Tigers are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games vs. a team with a winning S.U. record. The Bears are 4-1-1 ATS in their last 6 home games and 12-5-1 ATS in their last 18 games overall.
This is too much chalk that I like to lay, but Texas Southern has shown me nothing that makes me think they can keep this game close. Baylor should win this game in a blowout but the best bet would be leaving this game alone altogether.
