South Carolina is seen as an improving team but every time they are called upon to step up the level of competition they fall short on the scoreboard. South Carolina is coming off of a win against UNC-Ashville that ended a two-game losing skid. South Carolina is averaging 71.7 points and they are shooting 43.8 percent from the floor while defensively they are allowing 63 points and their opponents shoot 37.7 percent. Sindarius Thornwell leads the Gamecocks averaging 13.5 points and 4.8 rebounds per game. Tyrone Johnson is averaging 9.8 points, Duane Notice is averaging 7.8 points, and Marcus Stroman is averaging 7.0 points and 4.3 assists. South Carolina has the rest of the week off before facing Oklahoma State on Saturday.
Marshall is 1-3-1 against the spread following a loss, 6-1-1 against the spread following a game that they didn’t cover the spread, and 6-19-1 against the spread in their last 27 non-conference games. South Carolina is 5-0 against the spread in their last five road games following three or more consecutive home games, 2-6 against the spread against Conference USA, and 16-39-2 against the spread following a game that they covered the point spread.
Marshall hasn’t been good of late but the number here is too big so I like for them to at least get the cover.
