The Colorado State Rams put their perfect record on the line against the visiting Texas El Paso Miners.
The Texas El Paso Miners have one a little of both scoring and defending in the early stages of the season in ripping off four consecutive victories. Now they look for a return to the win column after a 68-65 loss to Washington where they couldn't protect the ball or make the perimeter shot. Both teams sank shots in the 43% range but the Miners gave the ball away 17 times ans were only 2-13 from long range and still lost by only three. Vince Hunter ledthe offense with 20 points and 13 rebounds on 6-9 from the field with Julian Washburn adding 17 points on 8-15. Cedrick Land contributed another 14 points on 4-6 from the floor but finding some complimentary production was an issue with nobody else scoring more then five points.

The Colorado State Rams are not supposed to challenge in the Mountain West but they are out to prove differently after a nice 5-0 start. The schedule hasn't been the toughest but the Rams have won fairly easily before squeezing by UC Santa Barbara 65-63 despite a 35% mark from the floor. The Gauchos connected at 45% and sank five more field goals but were crushed at the foul line where Colorado State converted 23-27 to outscore UCSB by 13 and stealing the victory in the process. CSU had five double digit scorers with Stanton Kidd leading the way with 14 points while Gian Clavell, John Gillon and JJ Avila each scored 13 points with the latter snagging eight rebounds. Daniel Bejarano rounded out the top contributors with ten points and hauled down 13 rebounds.
The Miners are 13-3-1 ATS in their last 17 games following a S.U. loss and are 13-3 ATS in their last 16 road games vs. a team with a winning home record. UTEP are 8-2 ATS in their last 10 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of greater than .600 while going 15-5-1 ATS in their last 21 road games. The Rams are 5-11-1 ATS in their last 17 games vs. a team with a winning % above .600 and are 7-17-2 ATS in their last 26 home games. Colorado State are 11-28-2 ATS in their last 41 games overall while going 7-19-1 ATS in their last 27 games vs. a team with a winning S.U. record. UTEP is a solid team and even if they don't win I'm thinking they keep this close...
