The Virginia Cavaliers are coming off of a monster season and they have started this year a perfect 7-0. Virginia is averaging 66.9 points and they are shooting 46 percent from the floor and 35.1 percent from beyond the three-point arc while defensively they allow 43.6 points per game and their opponents shoot 30.5 percent. Justin Anderson leads the Cavs averaging 15 points per game. Anthony Gill is averaging 12.6 points and 6.4 rebounds, Malcolm Brogdon is averaging 11.4 points, and Mike Tobey is averaging 7.7 points and 7.2 rebounds. Virginia is looking like they will be a force again this season.
Maryland is 7-2 against the spread against the ACC, 4-1 against the spread following a game that they didn’t cover the point spread, and 8-2 against the spread against a team with a winning record. Virginia is 6-1 against the spread in their last seven non-conference games, 8-3-1 against the spread in their last 12 road games, and 5-1 against the spread following a win. The underdog has covered the point spread in the last five meetings of these two.
Maryland is battle tested and I look for them to make this closer than many think.
