The Michigan State Spartans and Notre Dame Fighting Irish play Wednesday night at the Purcell Pavilion.
The Michigan State Spartans look to bounce back from their loss to Kansas when they play their second true road game. On the season, Michigan State is averaging 73.3 points on 48.6 percent shooting and is allowing 59.7 points on 37.4 percent shooting. Travis Trice leads Michigan State with 16.4 points and 5.9 assists while Denzel Valentine is averaging 14.4 points on 44.9 percent shooting. Branden Dawson is the third MSU player to average double-digit points and Matt Costello is grabbing 6.9 rebounds in limited playing time. The Michigan State Spartans seem to be getting better with each game but need to clean up their 65 percent free throw shooting and create more turnovers on defense, as they’re forcing less than 12 per game. Alvin Ellis III is questionable with an ankle injury.

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are off to a quick 6-1 start thanks to their offense. On the season, Notre Dame is averaging 86.3 points on 58 percent shooting and is allowing 56.9 points on 37.5 percent shooting. Jerian Grant leads Notre Dame with 18.7 points and seven assists while Zach Auguste is averaging 15 points and 6.4 rebounds. Pat Connaughton is grabbing 7.7 rebounds per game and Demetrius Jackson is shooting 57.4 percent from the field. The Notre Dame Fighting Irish, have been an offensive machine early on, which includes shooting 70.1 percent from the free throw line and 43 percent from beyond the arc. Of course, Notre Dame’s defense hasn’t been too shabby either, forcing 13 turnovers per game and holding teams to 27.1 percent shooting from deep.
The Spartans are 0-5 ATS in their last 5 road games and 3-7-1 ATS in their last 11 games overall. The Fighting Irish are 6-19-2 ATS in their last 27 home games and 2-6 ATS in their last 8 games overall.
This is a big game for both teams but I find it hard to turn down Michigan State and the free points. The Spartans need a big win after losing to both ranked teams they've played already. Besides, Notre Dame has yet to play a team as talented as this MSU squad. Based on the value, give me MSU and the points.
