The Providence Friars and Boston College Eagles play Friday night at the Silvio Conte Forum.
The Providence Friars hope to bounce back from their loss to Kentucky and play their second true road game. On the season, Providence is averaging 69 points on 47.1 percent shooting and is allowing 58.3 points on 42.2 percent shooting. LaDontae Henton leads the Friars with 21.3 points and 5.4 rebounds while Tyler Harris is averaging 13.1 points and 5.7 rebounds. Kris Dunn leads the way with 6.7 assists per game and Carson Desrosiers is shooting 48.3 percent from the field. The Providence Friars is a solid offensive team that’s shooting 67.7 percent from the free throw line and 34.3 percent from downtown. However, Providence has been getting the job done defensively by forcing nearly 14 turnovers and holding teams to just 26.8 percent shooting from beyond the arc.

The Boston College Eagles have split their last four games and could use a win here to get back on track. On the season, Boston College is averaging 64.5 points on 42.1 percent shooting and is allowing 63.7 points on 42.3 percent shooting. Olivier Hanlan leads the Eagles with 16.2 points and four assists while Aaron Brown is averaging 14 points on 37.5 percent shooting. Patrick Heckmann is shooting 45.9 percent from the field and Dennis Clifford is grabbing 5.5 rebounds per game. The Boston College Eagles are really struggling on the offensive end and are making things that much worse with 16 turnovers per contest. Boston College is able to stay in games with a defense that’s forcing more than seven steals and creating more than 15 turnovers. Still, tough to win games when you’re shooting just 23.1 percent from deep.
The Friars are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 road games and 3-0-1 ATS in their last 4 games overall. The Eagles are 4-12 ATS in their last 16 home games and 3-7 ATS in their last 10 non-conference games. The underdog is 4-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings.
Like last season, I really like this Providence Friars team, as it relies on toughness and has that one player who can takeover a game. The game against Kentucky will pay off in this one. Give me the Friars and the chalk.
