The Line: Connecticut Huskies -- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds
The Yale Bulldogs and Connecticut Huskies play Friday night at the Gampel Pavilion.
The Yale Bulldogs are off to an impressive 7-2 start and will play their fifth true road game. On the season, Yale is averaging 69.8 points on 43.7 percent shooting and is allowing 62.5 points on 42.6 percent shooting. Justin Sears leads Yale with 15.1 points and 8.9 rebounds while Javier Duren is averaging 14.9 points and 4.1 assists. Jack Montague is the third Yale player to average double-digit points and Armani Cotton is grabbing 6.1 rebounds per game. The Yale Bulldogs are playing solid basketball at both ends of the floor, especially on defense where they’re holding teams to 31.8 percent shooting from downtown. Yale is a bigger team that averages 37.5 rebounds per game and that could give UConn some trouble with a smaller lineup. These next two games are huge for Yale.
USA TODAY Sports
The Connecticut Huskies are coming off a heartbreaking loss to Texas and have lost two straight. On the season, UConn is averaging 65.6 points on 42.3 percent shooting and is allowing 61.4 points on 40.3 percent shooting. Ryan Boatright leads the Huskies with 20.8 points and four assists while Daniel Hamilton is averaging 13.2 points and 6.6 rebounds. Amida Brimah is averaging 3.2 blocks per game and Rodney Purvis is shooting 37 percent from the field. The Connecticut Huskies lack depth and are shooting just 28.9 percent from beyond the arc. UConn’s feisty defense is keeping the Huskies in games but the lack of consistent offense has been the main reason for such the slow start. Boatright, Purvis and Omar Calhoun are all questionable with injuries.
The Bulldogs are 6-1-2 ATS in their last 9 road games and 3-0-1 ATS in their last 4 games overall. The Huskies are 8-3 ATS in their last 11 non-conference games and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games overall.
UConn is expected to have its key players in this game and you can bet they'll be playing with an edge after losing back-to-back tough games. Give me UConn by double digits.
