City rivals the Loyola-Chicago Ramblers clash with the Illinois-Chicago Flames in Saturday action.
The Loyola-Chicago Ramblers enter their second season in the Missouri Valley with the goal being to avoid the basement and perhaps finish near the middle of the standings. The Ramblers enter their bout with rival UIC with an 83-70 loss to visiting Tulane on Wednesday. LCU is not a play from behind type of team so when they trailed by ten at the break their was trouble brewing. The Ramblers defense gave up 52.8% shooting and when they fouled the Green Wave made them pay with a 21-25 effort at the stripe. The Ramblers weren't too shabby shooting at 49% but a 13-21 performance at the line and a -13 on the glass were too much to overcome. Milton Doyle led the Ramblers with 15 points but had five TO while Donte Ingram added 14 points. Christian Thomas and Earl Peterson rounded out the top sccorers with 13 and nine points.

The Illinois-Chicago Flames will be looking to escape the Horizon basement but that means they will need better performances at bothends of the floor then we have seen thus far. The Flames have dropped back to back contests following a 66-61 loss to visiting Grand Canyon As has been the case the Flames struggled to find the shooting touch at 34.5% with the Antelopes connecting at 46%. This was a clos game because UIC went an amazing 18-20 from the charity stripe to outscore Grand Canyon by nine. Jay Harris scored 17 points, grabbed seven boards and handed out seven assists but was 5-15 from the floor. Jake Weigand tossed in 12 points and hauled in ten rebounds while the duo of Tai Odiase and Marc Brown contributed eight points apiece. Overall eight players scored but the team struggled to make shots consistently.
The over is 21-5 in L-IL last 26 vs. Horizon League while L-IL are 3-9 ATS in their last 12 games overall with the over going 6-2 in L-IL last 8 road games. For Illinois-Chicago the Flames are 2-12 ATS in their last 14 home games and the over is 11-5 in UIC last 16 vs. Missouri Valley. Head to head L-IL are 4-13 ATS in the last 17 meetings. I think the Ramblers are the the better team but they seldom cover against their city rivals so I'm really bucking some big trends in this one but that's how I see it...
