The Arkansas State Red Wolves visit Mackey Arena to face the Purdue Boilermakers Wednesday.
The Arkansas State Red Wolves have numbers that say they can score and defend but based on their strength of schedule we don't know if that's true or not. The Red Wolves are 2-2 on a +300 schedule with a 95-68 rout of Belhaven College on Saturday that helped pad the offensive stats. ASU led by 12 at the break before breaking it open with a 57 point second half. The Blazers couldn't put up enough points on 41% shooting but Arkansas State did behind 50% from the field including 13 bombs an 12 more shots. Sean Gardner paced the attack with 28 points and seven pulls followed by a 19 point, nine rebound effort from Anthony Livingston. Cameron Golden added 18 points, six boards and nine assists with ten players scoring altogether.

The Purdue Boilermakers are not supposed to be a factor in the Big Ten race but after building a 7-2 record through nine games it will be interesting to see how this team performs going forward. The Boilermakers bounced back from a loss to North Florida to rout IUPU-Ft. Wayne 63-43 Monday in a game that was decided in the first half with Purdue up by 16. The Mastadons could not make a shot at 28.6% from the field while the Boilermakers 43% marksmanship accounted for nine more field goals. Kendall Stephens and AJ Hammons tossed in 13 points each with Hammons hauling in 12 rebounds and recording five blocks while Isaac Hayes added ten points and five yanks. Overall the Boilermakers had eight players reach the scoring column.
The Red Wolves are 4-11-1 ATS in their last 16 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of greater than .600 while going 4-12-1 ATS in their last 17 non-conference games. Arkansas State are 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games following a S.U. win and are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games vs. a team with a winning % above .600. The Boilermakers are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 non-conference games and are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games overall. Purdue are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 vs. Sun Belt while going 20-6 ATS in their last 26 Wednesday games. The Red Wolves haven't played enough for me to get a handle on but Purdue seemd capable of covering if they want to...
