The Indiana State Sycamores travel to Hynes Athletics Center to tangle with the Iona Gaels Saturday.
The Indiana State Sycamores have yet to get their scoring and defense pointed in the same direction and the result is a four game slide and a 3-5 record. The Sycamores appeared to have things straightened out as they took a 30-22 halftime lead at Ball State on Saturday but the defense didn't hold up with the Cardinals going on a 48 point second half run to win 70-63. Both teams sank shots in the 45% range with Ball State turning 21 personals in to a decisive 18-9 edge at the line. The Sycamores received a game high 16 points from Justin Gent on 7-14 from the floor with Khristian Smith tossing in 15 points while Brenton Scott and Devonte Bell combined for 17 points with Bell snagging seven rebounds.

The Iona Gaels and their high powered offense are penciled in as the class of the MAAC and then they drop their conference opener to Monmouth. The Gaels redeemed themselves with a 77-64 victory versus visiting Rider as they opened up a 12 point lead after 20 minutes and kept the Broncs at bay the rest of the way. In a slopp contest both teams combined for 38 turnovers with Iona holding a 50%-43.6% shooting edge with an 11-8 difference in three pointers. AJ English was the best player on the floor with 30 points, 14 rebounds and five assists on 9-17 from the field with Schadrac Casmir firing in 19 points followed by a 15 point performance from Isaiah Williams. The starting five totaled 70 points altogether with just four actually scoring so four players carried the offense.
