The Cincinnati Bearcats do battle with the Nebraska Cornhuskers at Pinnacle Bank Arena.
The Cincinnati Bearcats won the AAC during the regular season behind a stifling defense. If defense wins championships the Bearcats were loaded but ultimately you still need to score to win. Cinci is not supposed to be a huge threat in 2014-15 with too much talent graduating although I say don't count out a defense that will still be a factor. Cincinnati improved to 6-1 after a 78-52 decision over visiting Stony Brook with a 38-23 lead afte 20 minutes taking the fight of the Seawolves. SB was held to 40% from the floor which wasn't nearly enough to compete with the Bearcats 52.7% marksmanship. Shaquille Thomas led the Cinci attack with 14 points and six pulls with Gary Clark adding 13 points and another eight boards. Kevin Johnson and Troy Caupain followed with 12 and ten points.

The Nebraska Cornhuskers have been able to score and defend which is why they are 5-3. The question is can both ends of the floor produce as their schedule inevitably gets tougher and I don't have a concrete answer for that. The Cornhuskers have lost back to back contests following a 73-72 defeat to visiting Incarnate Word who connected at 48% from the field with the Huskers countering with 42% accuracy. Nebraska negated the Cardinals shooting with a 24-16 edge at the line and were a bounce or two away from the win. Shavon Shields was the big gun for the Nebraska attack with 19 points and nine rebounds with Terran Petteway adding 18 points, eight pulls and five yanks while Walter Pitchford chipped in with ten points.
The Bearcats are 6-13 ATS in their last 19 games following a SU win of more than 20 points while going 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games vs. a team with a winning S.U. record. Cincinnati are 3-12 ATS in their last 15 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of greater than .600 and are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 non-conference games. The Cornhuskers are 13-4 ATS in their last 17 home games vs. a team with a losing road record and are 19-6-1 ATS in their last 26 games following a S.U. loss. Nebraska are 18-7-1 ATS in their last 26 home games and are 10-4 ATS in their last 14 home games vs. a team with a road winning % of less than .400. Cincinnati lost a lot of talent but can still play defense which I hope keeps this close...
