The Washington State Cougars look for a road win varsus the Santa Clara Broncos at the Leavey Center.
Just by watching the Washington State Cougars through their 4-5 start I believe the experts are correct in saying this team won't finish anywhere near the top of the PAC 12. The Cougars have scoring potential but opponents have more with a defense that allows 74 points. The defennse took one on the chin in an 81-66 loss to Gonzaga in a game one would think to be closer with WSU sinking 52% of their looks. However the Zags connected at almost 54% and totaled 17 more looks at the basket for the decisive advantage. Washington State received 18 points and eleven rebounds from Josh Hawkinson on 7-14 followed by the tandem of Ike Iroegbu and DaVonte Lacy with 14 points apiece on a combined 9-18 from the field.

The Santa Clara Broncos are hoping home cooking is just what the doctor ordered after playing six consecutive games away from the Leavey Center. The Broncos have evened their record at 4-4 with back to back victories that was capped off with a 61-50 decision at Rider. SCU broke open a tie game with a 29-18 second half run in which the defense came to life and allowed 43% shooting and forced the majority of San Jose State's 22 turnovers. The Broncos used those giveaways to total 12 more shots which made their own 40.7% marksmanship a winning effort. Jared Brownridge pumped in 20 points to lead all scorers on 7-10 shooting with four bombs. Brandon Clark added ten points, six boards and six assists while Nate Kratch and Matt Hubbard combined for 15 points.
The Cougars are 12-3-1 ATS in their last 16 vs. West Coast while going 4-11-1 ATS in their last 16 games overall. Washington State are 6-17-3 ATS in their last 26 road games vs. a team with a winning home record and are 1-3-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a ATS win. The Broncos are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 home games following three or more consecutive road games and are 16-35-1 ATS in their last 52 home games vs. a team with a road winning % of less than .400. Santa Clara are 4-9-2 ATS in their last 15 non-conference games and are 12-29 ATS in their last 41 home games. Both teams depend on their guard play with Santa Clara leaning more heavily that way so whoever gets something in the paint has the edge or so I think...
