The Brigham Young Cougars look to get back on the winning track versus the Weber State Wildcats.
The Brigham Young Cougars are a top four squad in the very top heavy West Coast but the question is where are they going to eventually find themelves with some steep competition. The Cougars are lighting up the scoreboard with the best offense in the land at 91 points but hey allowed almost 76 points so what happens if the offense stalls. The Cougars found out in a 65-61 loss to Utah who controlled the pace and sank almost 46% of their looks with 19-6 edge at the stripe to hold off 37% shooting Brigham Young who stayed close with 17 more looks. Tyler Haws pumped in a game high 23 points and grabbed eight boards but was just 9-22 from the floor while Kyle Collinsworth added 17 poins, nine rebounds and five assists. Anson Winder chipped in with ten points but the remainder of the team totaled only eleven points.
The Weber State Wildcats are the odds on favorite to win the Big Sky but they are off to a slow start with their offense struggling to put points on the scoreboard. In fashioning a 3-4 record the Wildcats have scored 64 points or less six times. Weber saw an opportunity to win their third straight disappear in a 63-56 road loss to Texas-Arlington on Saturday. The Wildcats never found the shooting touch with 32.7% from the floor and 15 giveaways while the Mavericks 44% marksmanship was the difference maker because it added up to eight more field goals. The Wildcats received 18 points, seven pulls and five helpers from Jeremy Senglin with Joel Bolomboy adding 12 points and ten rebounds followed by an eleven point effort from Chris Golden. The issue was only two points came from outside of the starting five.
The Cougars are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 vs. Big Sky while going are 4-9 ATS in their last 13 games overall and 1-6 ATS in their last 7 games vs. a team with a losing S.U. record. The Wildcats are 7-2 ATS in their last 9 home games vs. a team with a winning road record and 15-7 ATS in their last 22 games following a ATS loss. Weber State are 43-21-2 ATS in their last 66 games following a S.U. loss and are 2-5-1 ATS in their last 8 home games. Brigham Young isn't the monster they were a few years ago and Weber State has yet to hit their stride yet. I'm not completely convinced in either to be honest...
