The Oregon Ducks welcome the Cal State Northridge Matadors to McArthur Court in late Wednesday action.
Cal State Northridge was picked to finish among the top four in the Big West but from what I've seen thus far I'd say finishing in the top half of the conference is a stretch. Six players were suspended and haven't logged a minute of playing time and the players that do take the floor are struggling to score and defend with an emphasis on defend. The Matadors put a stop to a five game slide with a 70-58 victory versus sub division Vanguard. CSN held a clear cut 45.5%-34.5% shooting advantage but did themselves no favors with 18 giveaways that helped the Lions to 14 extra looks. Stephan Hicks led all scorers with 17 points and six pulls with Devonte Elliott tossing in 14 points and posting nine boards. Landon Drew added eleven while Stephen Maxwell chipped in nine points and snagged eight boards.

The Oregon Ducks are listed as a middle of the row team in the PAC 12 but if they don't move up it won't be for a lack of scoring because this is a top 25 offense that averages 80 points. The danger for a team that leans on scoring is if the shots aren't falling then it falls to the defense to make things work. Everything has been going well lately with wins in three of four capped off by a 77-70 victory against Illinois on Saturday. The Ducks held their own throughout the boxscore and flashed some defense with a 46%-36% edge in the marksmanship department which equated to seven more field goals. Dillon Brooks did a little of everything and a lot of scoring with a team high 24 points with Joseph Young netting 15 points and handing out five assists. Dwayne Benjamin followed with 13 points and five yanks while Ahmaad Rorie and Eljin Cook combined for 21 points.
The Matadors are 5-16 ATS in their last 21 non-conference games and 6-20 ATS in their last 26 Wednesday games while going 0-6 ATS in their last 6 games overall. The Ducks are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 home games vs. a team with a road winning % of less than .400 and 4-0-1 ATS in their last 5 home games vs. a team with a losing road record while going 6-1-1 ATS in their last 8 vs. Big West. Oregons are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games vs. a team with a winning % below .400 and 20-7-1 ATS in their last 28 non-conference games. Not much to go on here but I think Oregon has played their schedule better...
