The Auburn Tigers look to even their record when the Xavier Musketeers come to town Saturday.
It seems like the Xavier Musketeers are always a team to watch for and that trend looks like it will continue in 2014-15 with the X-Men standing at 7-2. We shall see if this team is for real as they come off their first real road game in a 74-58 decision at Missouri. The Musketeers were up five at the break before pulling away over the final 20 minutes. Xavier hit at over 53% from the floor but were sloppy with 20 turnovers but the 39% shooting Tigers didn't take advantage of nine extra looks with a 1-16 performance from distance doing them in. The Musketeers received 17 points from Dee Davis with the duo of Myles Davis and Brandon Randolph. Trevon Bluiett and Remy Abell contributed eight points apiece with nine players scoring.

I think the big news surrounding the Auburn Tigers is Bill Pearl taking over the program although it will take some time to get his players and system in place. Right now the Tigers need more scoring and more defense and didn't get enough points in dropping three straight before putting everything together in an 80-62 rout of visiting Winthrop on Wednesday. Auburn was in control throughout with the Eagles held to 34% from the field including 4-27 from distance. The Tigers hit at 44% and had plenty of balance with four players cracking double figures in the scoring column. Cinmeon Bowers poured in a game high 19 points and hauled in 17 rebounds followed by a 14 point effort from KT Harrell. Antoine Mason scored 13 points with Jordan Granger rounding out the top scorers with ten points.
The Musketeers are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 vs. Southeastern and 19-8 ATS in their last 27 games following a S.U. win. Xavier are 9-4 ATS in their last 13 non-conference games and 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games following a ATS win. The Tigers are 8-2-1 ATS in their last 11 home games vs. a team with a road winning % of greater than .600 and are 6-2-1 ATS in their last 9 home games vs. a team with a winning road record. Auburn are 8-21 ATS in their last 29 games vs. a team with a winning S.U. record and are 1-3-2 ATS in their last 6 vs. Big East. The Musketeers are looking tough right now and I will back them but boy do I hate road chalk...
