The Montana Grizzlies welcome the South Dakota Coyotes to Dahlberg Arena in Sunday action.
The South Dakota Coyotes have proven scoring ability so far but have had some issues at the defensive end that has combined with a pair of overtime defeats to leave the team with a 4-8 record. The Coyotes survived the slowdown tactics of visiting Montana State to end a three game skid with a 55-53 victory on Thursday. The Bobcats shot 33% and gave the ball away 15 times with SD connecting at just 29.8% but the difference was a few more threes and free throws. South Dakota leaned on leading scorer Brandon Bos and he delivered with 17 points followed by a 12 point, eleven rebound effort from Tyler Larson while Trey Norris chipped in with ten points. The Coyotes went with a 7-8 man rotation with seven players finding the scoring column.

The experts have said this might be a down year for the Montana Grizzlies and while I don't always believe what I hear the Grizzlies have not looked good so far. A 3-6 record says as much but in many of the defeats the defense has simply not gotten stops which we have seen in losses in four of five. The Grizzlies are coming off a 73-58 defeat at Milwaukee where the Panthers made a 12 point half time lead stand up. The shooting of both teams fell in the 46%-47% range but the home team pulled away with five more threes and a decisive 20-9 edge at the foul line. Leading scorer Jordan Gregory paced four double digit scorers with 21 points on -17 while Jermaine Edmonds Jr. tossed in 13 points. Martin Breunig and Mario Dunn Jr combined for 21 points but the rest of the team scored only three points.
The Coyotes are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of greater than .600 and are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 road games vs. a team with a winning home record. Soth Dakota are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 road games and 2-5 ATS in their last 7 Sunday games. The Grizzlies are 25-9 ATS in their last 34 games vs. a team with a winning % below .400 and 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games following a ATS loss. Montana are 4-10 ATS in their last 14 home games and Grizzlies are 2-6 ATS in their last 8 games vs. a team with a losing S.U. record. Neither team is setting the world on fire so there isn't a solid pick here so take that in account...
