The Nevada Wolf Pack and the Marshall Thundering Herd butt heads at the Lawlor Events Center.
The Marshall Thundering Herd are not the same team we're accustomed to seeing over the past several years and the experts don't think so either as they say this team will be fortunate to finish in the middle of the CUSA. The proof is in the numbers with the Thundering Herd dropping seven of eight following a 3-0 start to 2014-15. This team has been able to score but not defend and couldn't put up points in a 67-58 defeat at Arkansas State on Saturday. The Red Wolves turned a five point deficit in to a DD victory on the strength of a 40-26 second half run. At the final horn the Red Wolves 36.8% shooting and 20-6 edge at the line outdistancing the Herd's 29.6 shooting and 14 extra shots. Marshall received 13 points and seven boards from Ryan Taylor while Justin Edmonds and Tamron Manning each scored eleven points withe shooting woes coming from a 10-38 effort on threes.

At 2-8 the Nevada Wolf Pack are at the point where they might have to win the Mountain West to garner an NCAA invitation. The Wolf Pack defend well enough with 64 points scored but the offense isn't averaging 59 points and that's a tough number to win with consistently. Nevada is in a deep funk with eight consecutive losses after 69-65 defeat at Pacific. The Tigers were up 18 at the half before Nevada made a game of it with 48-34 second half run. Both teams sank shots in the 40% range with a 3-17 performance on threes costing them a win while Pacific almost snatched defeat from victory with an ugly 18-36 from the stripe. DJ Fenner carried Nevada with a game high 24 points on 8-15 from the field with Tyron Criswell netting 12 points and eight rebounds followed by Marqueze Coleman and Lucas Stivrins with ten and nine points with Stivrins grabbing nine rebounds.
The Thundering Herd are 7-2-1 ATS in their last 10 games following a ATS loss and 11-23 ATS in their last 34 road games. Marshall are 15-37-3 ATS in their last 55 games vs. a team with a losing S.U. record and 8-21-1 ATS in their last 30 non-conference games. The Wolf Pack are 3-0-1 ATS in their last 4 vs. Conference USA and are 7-19 ATS in their last 26 games vs. a team with a winning % below .400. Nevada are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games vs. a team with a losing S.U. record and 1-6 ATS in their last 7 games following a S.U. loss. Not really much to go on here but I see Nevada is 2-7 ATS although Marshall is just not doing anything. I'm taking the points because somebody is getting them...
