Former conference rivals the Old Dominion Monarchs and the William & Mary Tribe face off Monday.
The William & Mary Tribe look like they will be a factor in the CAA because they have been able to score and defend in building a 6-3 record. The offense doesn't always light up the scoreboard but did so in hammering sub division Washington College 86-46 Friday to snap a two game skid. This was over after ten minutes with a 30 point lead heading to the locker room. W&M held advantages in most categories with nearly 54% shooting and an 11-23 mark from beyond the arc easily leaving the 27% shooting Shoreman in the rear view mirror. Marcus Thornton paced the scoring parade with 20 points including 4-6 on threes while Terry Tarpley tossed in 15 points and grabbed six boards along with blocking six shots. Daniel Dixon added eleven points and snagged ten rebounds with 12 players scoring overall.

Right now the Old Dominion Monarchs are probably opening some eyes among their CUSA brethern with an impressive 9-1 start behind a top 20 defense that is allowing less then 60 points. ODU has rattled off six consecutive victories after routing Maryland-Eastern Shore 60-43 on Friday. A 29-17 second half broke open a competive contest that looked like anything but in the boxscore. The Hawks hurt themselves with 17 turnovers and 39% shooting which gave a cold shooting ODU a chance. The Monarchs hit at 35.7% but accumulated 15 more looks at the basket on Hawks miscues and 18 offensive rebounds. Aaron Bacote and Jonatan Arledge paced the offense with 12 points apiece with Arledge posting five yanks while Trey Freeman chipped in with nine points.
The Tribe are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games vs. a team with a winning % above .600 and are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games vs. a team with a winning S.U. record. William & Mary are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of greater than .600 and 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games following a S.U. win. The Monarchs are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 home games vs. a team with a road winning % of less than .400 and 12-0 ATS in their last 12 home games. Old Dominion are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games after allowing less than 50 points in their previous game and 6-0 ATS in their last 6 games vs. a team with a winning % above .600. Old Dominion is a cover machine and especially so at home. I'm bucking the trends here so with that being said...
