The Cornell Big Red look for a win at the Times Union Center versus the Siena Saints Tuesday night.
The Cornell Big Red aren't accustomed to winning so a 5-5 record heading towards the Christmas break is a solid job for this squad. The Big Red might have another win or two if they had more scoring punch but for a team that scors and allows 64 points their success has been very solid in my view. Having said that the Big Red saw a three game winning streak end in a 74-61 loss at Radford where the defense fell apart in the second half of a 42-28 Highlanders run that squandered an eight point lead. RU won on their 49% shooting with the Big Red losing because of 32.7%. Shonn Miller tried to carry the team all by his lonesome with a game high 28 points and nine rebounds with Robert Hatter adding 18 points but this duo received very little help.

After having tremendous success in the postseason last year the Siena Saints were expected to make a little noise in the MAAC in 2014-15. Having said that their 3-6 record is surprising to more then a few people but with Patrick Cole suspended and injuries to Lavon Long and Brett Bisping the Saints have a lot of production not on the floor. The shorthanded Saints have dropped three in a row and four of five that was capped off with a 76-66 road loss to Radford. Radford took a nine point lead at the break and Siena couldn't counterpunch with 30% shooting and 16 extra attempts with the Highlanders firing away at 49%. Rob Poole tried to carry the load with a game high 17 point and ten rebound effort with Marcus Wright adding 14 points and seven pulls. Ryan Oliver tossed in eleven points and had six steals with Javion Ogunyemi chipping in with ten points and eight boards.
The Big Red are 3-0-1 ATS in their last 4 games following a S.U. loss and 4-0-2 ATS in their last 6 games vs. a team with a winning % below .400. Cornell are 6-0-2 ATS in their last 8 games vs. a team with a losing S.U. record and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 non-conference games. The Saints are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games following a S.U. loss and 7-1 ATS in their last 8 home games. Siena are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 home games vs. a team with a losing road record and 9-3 ATS in their last 12 non-conference games. Cornell might be from the unpredictable Ivy League but they have been competitive and with a few players out for Siena I'll take the points...
