Georgia State Panthers vs. Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks - 12/30/14 College Basketball Pick, Odds, and Prediction

USA TODAY Sports

The Georgia State Panthers fell to 7-4 on the season after losing 78-61 to the Green Bay Phoenix this past Saturday. The Panthers held an 11 point lead late in the first half however, was only able to score 24 points in the second half in the loss. Leading the way for the Panthers was R.J. Hunter who had 19 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 assists. Georgia State is currently ranked 72nd in the RPI Standings and has played the 79th ranked SOS. The Panthers have been lead this season by R.J. Hunter (21.0 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 3.8 apg, 2.0 spg), Ryan Harrow (19.6 ppg, 5.4 apg, 1.7 spg), and Kevin Ware (6.9 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 2.0 apg, 2.1 spg). Defensively, Georgia State is allowing 64.7 ppg (ranked 149th) on 40.6% shooting (ranked 122nd). The Panthers do a good job forcing turnovers as they currently average 9.6 spg (ranked 11th). Offensively, Georgia State is averaging 72.8 ppg (ranked 79th) on 48.3% shooting (ranked 36th). The Panthers currently average 22.45 defensive rpg (ranked 271st) and 31.82 total rpg (ranked 290th).

The Warhawks are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 road games and 3-1-1ATS in their last 5 games vs. the Sun Belt Conference. The Panthers are 8-3 ATS in their last 11 home games, however are just 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games following a ATS loss.

Georgia State has a great backcourt in R.J. Hunter and Ryan Harrow who really know how to score the basketball. UL Monroe has struggled, however they did play Florida tough earlier in the season and do a decent job on the defensive end. Georgia State has the talent to beat anyone on any given night, however I think that is just too many points to give up. I’m taking UL Monroe and the points in this one.
