The Indiana State Sycamores travel to Redbird Arena to take the floor with the Illinois State Redbirds.
The Indiana State Sycamores need to regroup quickly as the Missouri Valley schedule is on top of them and they have yet to point the ship in the right direction. It's tough to win when getting outscored 71-67 and it's simply been hard to win...period. The Sycamores have dropped seven of eight after a 73-70, overtime loss to UMKC. Both teams hit shots at 39% and combined for 30 turnovers with the Kangaroos squeezing off five more shots and recording a few more field goals to win it. Brenton Scott was the Sycamores best player with a team high 18 points, six boards and six helpers with Devonte Brown adding 12 points followed by a ten point, ten rebound and six assist performance from Khristian Smith.
USA TODAY Sports
The Illinois State Redbirds have some talent on their roster and are hoping it's enough to make some noise in the Missouri Valley. It's been so far, so good as the Redbirds have motored right along with wins in five of six after dismantling sub division Quincy 99-57 Monday in a tuneup for conference play. The Redbirds jumped out to a 36 point lead after 20 minutes and were never challenged as 61% marksmanship easily outdistanced the smaller Hawks 40% which all that ISU needed. Justin McCloud led five double digit scorers with 18 points with Daishon Knight scoring 16 points and snagging five pulls. Bobby Hunter tossed in 14 points with the tandem of MiKyle McIntosh and John Jones netted 12 and ten points and hauled in seven rebounds each.
The Sycamores are 16-36 ATS in their last 52 games overall and are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games following a S.U. loss. Indiana State are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 road games and 8-21 ATS in their last 29 vs. Missouri Valley. The Redbirds are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games after scoring more than 90 points in their previous game and 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games overall. Illinois State are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 home games vs. a team with a road winning % of less than .400 and are 10-4 ATS in their last 14 home games. Something seems amiss with Indiana State and I'm baffled. They have dominated this series ATS but if the Redbirds are going to get one this would be it...
