The Loyola-Chicago Ramblers host the Missouri Valley opener with the Bradley Braves on Wednesday.
The Bradley Braves have struggled to get going this season and the majority of the blame is on their scoring with 60 points not enough to win consistently. The Braves are hoping to build on a 69-60 victory over Illinois-Chicago on Sunday that upped their record to 5-8. The Braves won the shooting battle 46%-42% but saw a chance to win easily go by the wayside because of a 25-40 effort from the charity stripe. Tramique Sutherland led four double digit scorers with 19 points with Ka'Darryl Bell next in line with 16 points. Auston Barnes scored 13 points with Josh Cunningham contributing eleven points and hauling in a game high eleven rebounds.

After watching the Loyola-Chicago Ramblers for years in the Horizon I have to say it seems odd to see them in the Missouri Valley even though this is their second year in the conference. It's odd seeing this team win as well but they are doing that with six consecutive victories and a 10-2 record after dropping Boise State 48-45 in a defensive struggle. The Ramblers connected at 42% and held the Broncos to under 30% which turned in to three more field goals to offset the Broncos nine more looks at the basket. Loyola-Chicago received a game high 17 points from Christian Thomas with Montel James tossing in ten points and posting five pulls. Milton Doyle came off the bench to chip in with nine points with nobody else from a ten man rotation scoring more then five.
The Braves are 9-4 ATS in their last 13 games following a ATS loss and 4-9 ATS in their last 13 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of greater than .600. Bradley are 4-9 ATS in their last 13 games vs. a team with a winning % above .600 and 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games vs. a team with a winning S.U. record. The Ramblers are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games overall and are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a S.U. win. Loyola-Chicago are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games after allowing less than 50 points in their previous game and 4-10 ATS in their last 14 games vs. a team with a winning % below .400. It really rubs me the wrong way when the Ramblers are a favorite and I like them but they are the better team...
