The New Mexico Lobos welcome the Fresno State Bulldogs to The Pit for some New Year's Eve action.
The first order of business for the Fresno State Bulldogs is to reach .500 and take things from there although stringing wins together has been a bit of a struggle thus far. The Bulldogs tuned up for the start of their conference slate with an easy 93-62 rout of sub division St Katherine on Sunday. FSU used a 55 point first half to put away the Firebirds in what ended up being a stat padder. The Bulldogs dominated the boxsore with 58% shooting while holding their smaller foes to 42% from the floor. Darnell Taylor led all scorers with 16 points and five assists om 7-11 shooting with Karachi Edo netting 14 points and grabbing nine rebounds. Paul Watson and Marvelle Harris added 14 and ten points with Harris posting ten helpers and five steals. Overall ten players saw the floor and each one scored.

The New Mexico Lobos lost enough offensive talent to where they lean more on their defense and half court sets to keep the scoreboard under control and to win games. Winning doesn't look like it will be easy in 2014-15 and a 68-65 loss to upstart Grand Canyon says as much as it stopped a five game win streak and probably had the casual fan scratching their head. The Lobos held a slight 41%-38.5% shooting edge but the Antelopes sank a few more free throws and threes to pull out the win. Hugh Greenwood was the star of the New Mexico offense with a game high 20 point performance. Deshawn Delaney followed with 13 points and five yanks while Jordan Goodman scored ten points and snagged six boards. Finding help outside this trio was the issue with nobody scoring more then six.
The Bulldogs are 1-4-1 ATS in their last 6 games vs. a team with a winning S.U. record and are 2-8-1 ATS in their last 11 games overall. Fresno State are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of greater than .600 and 0-7 ATS in their last 7 games after scoring more than 90 points in their previous game. The Lobos are 39-14-1 ATS in their last 54 vs. Mountain West and 23-9-2 ATS in their last 34 games vs. a team with a winning % below .400. New Mexico are 40-18-4 ATS in their last 62 games vs. a team with a losing S.U. record and 22-10-2 ATS in their last 34 home games vs. a team with a losing road record. The Bulldogs have shown some positive signs but for the defensive minded Lobos at home have blowout potential but check for injuries first...
