The Youngstown State Penguins travel to the UIC Pavilion to take the floor with the Illinois-Chicago Flames.
The Youngstown State Penguins are trying to crack the top four in the Horizon League and we shall see if their scoring ability is enough to accomplish that goal. Time will tell if the Penguins can muster enough defense which has always been an issue with this team. YSU did have just enough defense in a 78-74 decision over visiting Northern Kentucky on Wednesday. The Norse stayed competitive on nearly 48% from the floor with 13 more attempts while the Penguins fired away at 56% with a 16-5 advantage at the stripe being decisive. Bobby Hain was the offensive star with 22 points, 14 rebounds and five assists with Marcus Keene scored eleven. The duo of Shawn Amiker Jr. and Osandai Vaughn adding ten points each while DJ Cole chipped in with nine points and nine helpers.

The Illinois-Chicago Flames are having big time issues scoring the basketball and their defense isn't strong enough to carry the load by their lonesome which means it's difficult to win. Both ends of the floor were at their best in a 79-38 demolition of sub division Judson which ended a three game slide on Tuesday. A 45-14 first half run essentially put this in the win column with the Eagles held to 29% from the floor. The Flames sank shots at 48% and mustered 16 more looks with eleven players scoring overall. Ahman Fells and Paris Burns each scored 12 points with Jason McClellan adding ten points and five yanks. Gabe Snyder and Markese McGuire combined for 17 points as the Flames head in to conference play with their 4th win.
The Penguins are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 road games following three or more consecutive home games and 4-0 ATS in their last 4 Friday games. Youngstown State are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games overall and 5-2-1 ATS in their last 8 games vs. a team with a winning % below .400. The Flames are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games after allowing less than 50 points in their previous game and are 7-2 ATS in their last 9 Friday games. Illinois-Chicago are 2-9 ATS in their last 11 games overall and 3-14 ATS in their last 17 home games. I think the danger here is writing off Illinois-Chicago because the Penguins defense can disappear and lose this...
