The Wofford Terriers travel to the Pete Hanna Center to open the SoCon slate with the Samford Bulldogs.
With Davidson leaving the SoCon the door has been opened for the Wofford Terriers to kick down. That remains to be seen but the Terriers ate off to a nice 9-4 start behind a quality defense that has allowed less then 62 points. That defense has been nowhere to be found in consecutive defeats after getting waffled at Duke 84-55 on Wednesday with the Blue Devils going on a 43-21 second half run to break open a close contest. Duke won it on a lights out 55.8% from the floor which was too much for the 38% shooting Terriers to compete with. Karl Cochran paced the Terriers offense with 13 points and five yanks on 5-17 with Justin Gordon and Eric Garcia combining for 17 points.

The Samford Bulldogs are not supposed to a big threat in the SoCon but they have been playing well with four consecutive victories heading in to the conference opener which should be a confidence builder and is proof of what happens when your scoring and defense are on the same page. The Bulldogs are coming off of a 94-60 rout of Auburn-Montgomery on Tuesday as the Senators were held to 38.6% from the field and forced in to 21 turnovers which was far short of Samford's 51.5% which included a 13-26 mark from long range. Brandon Roberts tossed in a contest high 19 points and five assists with Marcus Johnson checking in with 15 points. Tyler Hood and Darius Jones-Gibson combined for 21 points with Nnamdi Enechionyia and Michael Bradley contributing eight points each.
The Terriers are 5-1-1 ATS in their last 7 games following a ATS loss and are 9-2 ATS in their last 11 games vs. a team with a losing S.U. record. Wofford are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a S.U. loss and 12-3-1 ATS in their last 16 vs. Southern. The Bulldogs are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 home games and are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games vs. a team with a winning S.U. record. Samford are 4-1-1 ATS in their last 6 games following a SU win of more than 20 points and are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 home games vs. a team with a losing road record. Wofford is supposed to be the team to beat in the SoCon so I say prove it here...
