The Line: College of Charleston Cougars +5 -- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds
The College of Charleston Cougars look for a win for the TD Arena crowd versus the Hofstra Pride.
The Colonial Athletic might be a bit top heavy in 2014-15 and the Hofstra Pride are one of those teams that are near the top with a top 20 offense and better then average defense that enables this team to win in any manner of ways. Both ends of the floor were too much for visiting Delaware in a 71-58 victory on Monday that was win number four in a row. The Tigers offense was sluggish with under 41% from the field but they owned a +16 on the glass and totaled 13 more looks at the basket while holding the Blue Hens to 38% shooting so things weren't that bad. Juan'ya Green led the Pride with 16 points and five yanks with Ameen Tanksley adding 15 points and nine rebounds. Brian Bernardi tossed in 13 points followed by an eleven point, 16 board effort by Rokas Gustys.
The Charleston Cougars are one of several teams to leave the SoCon for the CAA but the team is really struggling to find the groove at 5-10. The Cougars play decent enough defense but their problems are at the offensive end of the floor where they are scoring just 58 points. Cof C is in the midst of a six game slide following a 61-50 defeat to visitingJames Madison on Monday. A 36-24 JMU second half run broke open a tight contest and nailed half their shots while the Cougars connected at 37% while losing the battle at the foul line by a 15-4 margin. Donovan Gilmore was the Cougars best offensive option with 12 points and seven boards on 5-7 from the floor with Anthony Stitt scoring ten points on 4-12. Joe Chealy rounded out the top contributors with nine points with five others combining for nine points.
The Pride are 5-1-1 ATS in their last 7 games vs. a team with a losing S.U. record and 4-1-1 ATS in their last 6 games vs. a team with a winning % below .400. Hofstra are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 road games and 4-1-1 ATS in their last 6 road games vs. a team with a losing home record. The Cougars are 17-35-1 ATS in their last 53 home games and are 16-37 ATS in their last 53 games overall. CofC are 7-19 ATS in their last 26 games vs. a team with a winning % above .600 and 8-22 ATS in their last 30 games following a S.U. loss. I think the potential lies with the visiting Pride who need every win in what will be a tight battle in the CAA...
