The Furman Paladins clash with the North Carolina-Greensboro Spartans at Timmons Arena Thursday night.
The North Carolina-Greensboro Spartans have a solid offense but have issues defensively which has been a common theme for this team over the years. Both ends of the floor have generally struggled in losing five of six but the defense has to shoulder the blame in Monday's 85-83, overtime defeat to the Citadel. The D did force 18 turnovers but the Bulldogs burned the nets at 53% including 10-18 from long range which made 50% UNCG shooting and 13 more shots come up short. Leading scorer Tevon Sadler pumped in 23 points on 10-19 from the field with RJ White netting 17 points and snaring nine rebounds. Kayel Locke and Nicholas Paulos tossed in 13 and 12 points as the starters accounted for all but 12 points.

Even though the conference schedule has just begun Furman is in need of a prolonged winning streak to save their season as they stand at just 3-10.The Paldins are being outscored 71-64 so that explains their dilema. Things didn't improve in Monday's 72-53 loss at Western Carolina where the Catamounts jumped to an 18 point lead after 20 minutes and were never in danger. WCU saw their shots falling at a blistering 57% which made the Paladins 34% accuracy very uncompetitive. Furman received 16 points from Devin Sibley on 5-8 from the floor with the tandem of Geoff Beans and Kris Acox netting eleven points apiece with Acox grabbing six boards. Leading scorer Stephen Croone was held to eight points which is nine below his average.

The Paladins are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games vs. a team with a winning % below .400 and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a S.U. loss. The Paladins are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 home games vs. a team with a road winning % of less than .400 and 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games overall. I don't see a clear cut choice here so I'll take the points but this looks painful regardless of the side...
