The Appalachian State Mountaineers challenge the South Alabama Jaguars at the Mitchell Center.
The Appalachian State Mountaineers need better performances at both ends of the floor as it will be tough to win consistently when getting outscored 71-63. These points were driven home hard in Monday's 80-64 defeat to visiting Louisiana-Lafayette with the Ragin' Cajuns taking a 14 pointlead in to the intermission and never looking back. The deciding factor in this one was the Mountaineers 39% from the field couldn't keep pace with UL Lafayette's 51.7%. Michael Obacha led a trio of double digit scorers with 12 points and seven rebounds on 4-8 with the twosome of Tommy Spanolo and Landon Goesling combining for 21 points with Spagnolo snaring seven boards. Ten players reached the scoring column for Appalachian State although nothing big from anyone.

If you are a fan of the South Alabama Jaguars you probably know that the wins better begin coming in bunches right now with a 3-10 record telling us this team is in trouble. The Jaguars have scoring potential but struggle defensively although neither stood out during a seven game skid that was snapped in a 72-69 victory at Arkansas-Little Rock Monday. In a battle of half court attacks USA connected at nearly 48% to offset the Tojans 40.7% accuracy and their eight more attempts. Dionte Ferguson poured in a game high 25 pointsand snared five pulls on 8-13 followed by a 16 point, 13 rebound perfomance from Georgi Boyanov on 7-8 from the floor who fouled out in 26 minutes. Taishaun Johnson and John Brown combined for 16 points as the entire seven man rotation scored.
The Mountaineers are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games following a S.U. loss and 5-0 ATS in their last 5 road games. Appalachian State are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall and 3-7 ATS in their last 10 road games vs. a team with a losing home record. The Jaguars are 3-0-1 ATS in their last 4 home games and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a S.U. win. South Alabama are 3-1-1 ATS in their last 5 vs. Sun Belt and 7-3-2 ATS in their last 12 games overall. These teams are a combined 7-17 with comparable ATS numbers so I believe the points are the safer choice...
