The Tennessee-Martin Skyhawks tangle with the Eastern Kentucky Colonels at Skyhawk Arena Thursday.
The Eastern Kentucky Colonels have built some dominant numbers early on as they have outscored opponents 75-62 with their strength of schedule being a bit questionable. The Colonels have won three of four however with an impressive win at Miami. EKU is coming off a 63-52 victory over visiting South Carolina State on Saturday. The Bulldogs found themselves in an eleven point hole at the half and couldn't cut in to the deficit on less then 40% shooting. The Colonels countered with 49% marksmanship including a 10-26 mark from long range. The duo of Eric Stutz and Denzel Richardson dominated the scoring column with 18 points apiece on a combined 12-18 shooting while Corey Walden and Isaac McGlone netted another 20 points.

If you have followed the Tennessee-Martin Skyhawks over the last several seasons you know their 8-5 record is a nice step forward. The Skyhawks are outscoring the opposition 72-64 and that number was reversed in past seasons. UTM tuned up for the Ohio Valley schedule with an 84-61 rout of sub division Crowley's Ridge College with a 53-36 second half run blowing open a close contest. The visitors struggled to 40% from the field and gave the ball away 21 times while Tennessee-Martin connected at 44% with an extra 13 attempts resulting in eight more field goals. Deville Smith led five double digit scorers with 17 points, five pulls, seven assists and six steals with Alex Anderson adding 16 points. Twymond Howard was next in line with a 15 point, nine rebound effort followed by Marshun Newell and Javier Martinez netting 13 and 12 points and posting 13 rebounds.
The Colonels are 8-2 ATS in their last 10 Thursday games and 9-3 ATS in their last 12 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of greater than .600. EKU are 11-4 ATS in their last 15 road games and 26-10 ATS in their last 36 road games vs. a team with a winning home record. The Skyhawks are 6-18 ATS in their last 24 games following a S.U. win and 2-7 ATS in their last 9 vs. Ohio Valley. UTM are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 home games and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games vs. a team with a winning % above .600. This seems like a trap line to me because if the Colonels can crush Miami the line is off in my view...
