I know the 7-6 record of the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks doesn't stand out but it is far better then where this team was over the past several years so there has been improvement. The Warhawks do need a boost in scoring as they outscore opponents 66-61 but the offense has faltered in defeats. The Warhawks prevented a three game slide with a 70-61 win versus visiting Arkansas State on Monday with the Red Wolves limited to 41.8% from the field while ULM hit at 54.7% for six more field goals. Marvin Williams was the Warhawks go to scorer with 22 points and seven board on 9-12 shooting with the trio of Justin Roberson, Majok Deng and Tylor Ongwae netting ten points apiece with Roberson and Deng combining for 13 rebounds.

When I look at the Texas-Arlington Mavericks I get the feeling this might be a darkhorse in the Sun Belt if the defense develops consistent stopping power. Having said that the Mavericks had ripped off five wins in a row before falling flat in a 71-66 defeat at Troy on Monday as a 4+ point favorite. Their defense was nowhere to be found with the Trojans burning the nets at 53% whils UTA fell off the pace with 41% accuracy. Johnny Hill gave Texas-Arlington 19 points and seven boards but turned the ball over five times. Jamal Outler tossed in ten while Greg Gainey added eight points and six boards. Ten Mavericks scored altogether but the biggest issue was the Trojans Wesley Person Jr was unstoppable with 31 points.
The Warhawks are 3-1-1 ATS in their last 5 vs. Sun Belt and 5-2 ATS in their last 7 road games. UL Monroe are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of greater than .600 and 5-14-1 ATS in their last 20 games following a S.U. win. The Mavericks are 8-1-1 ATS in their last 10 games following a ATS loss and are 5-1-1 ATS in their last 7 games following a S.U. loss. I like the way ULM has improved but Texas-Arlington at home is what I'm looking at...
