The Indiana-Purdue Jaguars battle Summit League rival the Denver Pioneers at IUPUI Gymnasium.
I know the Denver Pioneers had high hopes of competing for the Summit League title but that's asking a lot when you are scoring 64 points and allowing the same. The Pioneers dropped a 69-53 decision at IUPU-Ft. Wayne on Thursday in a game the Mastodons led throughout. Denver shot the ball well enough to win at 48.7% including 12-26 from long range but Ft. Wayne hit at a scorching hot 55% and dominated the foul line 18-3 to win easily as a two point home dog. Marcus Byrd gave the Pioneers 14 points on 5-10 shooting with Brett Olson adding 13 points on 4-7. Jalen Love and Nate Engesser netted 13 and eight points but DU lacked any secondary offensive production.

The indiana-Purdue Jaguars have played some decent basketball over the past several weeks despite what their 5-11 record indicates but some close defeats haven't helped. The Jaguars fell to 1-1 in the Summit League following a 69-61, overtime loss at Oral Roberts Thursday night in a game that was dead even until the extra session. The Jaguars sank shots at a competitive 47% but hurt themselves with 19 turnovers while the Golden Eagles were held to just 39% but picked up seven more looks at the basket and turned 23 Jaguars personals in to a 20-9 advantage at the stripe. Khufu Najee led the offense with eleven points with Justus Stanback tossing in ten while Marcellus Barksdale added nine points and five yanks. The duo of Leo Svete and DavRon Williams netted eight points each with the latter posting seven boards.
The Pioneers are 7-1 ATS in their last 8 road games vs. a team with a losing home record and 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games following a ATS loss. Denver are 20-6 ATS in their last 26 Saturday games and 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games following a S.U. loss. The aguars are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games overall and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a S.U. loss. IUPUI are 16-36 ATS in their last 52 home games and 11-27 ATS in their last 38 home games vs. a team with a road winning % of less than .400. I believe Denver is the better squad with the worry being the Pioneers on the road which is always a concern for me...
